Distribution: India [AS: without specific locality (Stephani, 1885 as M. assamicum; Sharma & S.C. Srivastava, 1993)], Bhutan (Long & Grolle, 1990), Myanmar (Mizutani, 1967), Thailand (Lai & al., 2008), Vietnam (Pócs, 1969 as B. tridens var. assamica). Note: The species, also known from China and Taiwan (Lai & Wang­Yang, 1976; Pócs, 1969; Zhu & So, 2003; Wang & al., 2011; Yang, 2011), has been recently excluded from these countries by Zhou & al. (2012).
