Herbs, perennial, erect. Leaves basal and cauline, deeply palmatisect. Flowers actinomorphic, terminal, solitary on long scapes. Sepals 5, petaloid, yellow, caducous. Petals absent. Stamens numerous. Carpels many. Receptacle elongating after flowering between the insertion of the sepals and the head of follicles. Follicles 6 - 10; style persistent; seeds not spongy in chalazal part; endosperm fleshy.

Himalayas, China and Taiwan; 3 species, one in India.
