Small trees; young branches with reddish brown or golden silky hairs. Leaves ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, acute or sometimes rounded at base, obtuse to bluntly acuminate at. apex, 9 - 14 x 4 - 6 cm; young leaves sparsely appressed pubescent beneath, glabrous with age; petioles ca 2 mm long, glabrous. Flowers solitary or in pairs, small, axillary; pedicels ca 3 mm long, pubescent; bracts minute. Sepals 3, very small, connate at base, ovate to rounded, pubescent outside. Petals 6 (3 + 3), minutely pubescent; outer petals smaller than inner, ovate; inner ones triangular to ovate. Stamens many, small cuneate; connectives flat-topped. Ripe carpels many, globose, glabrous; stalks long. Seeds 1 or 2.

Distrib. India: Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
