Rootstock covered with old spongy petioles. Leaves spathulate or obovate, entire, leathery, 2 - 4 x 0.5 - 1 cm, glabrous or with hairy margins; petioles 2 - 4 cm long, sheathing at base. Scapes short, thick, few-flowered, pilose, sometimes with 1 or 2 leaves. Fruits ovate, 1.5 - 3 x 0.5 - 1 cm, tapering into short, thick style; valves thin, convex, not veined, midrib distinct. Seeds few, not winged.

Distrib. India: Sikkim.
