serrate, especially densely stellate-tomentose beneath, 3 -
5-nerved; petioles up to 3 cm
long, tomentose; stipules ca 4 mm long, subulate, hairy. Flowers in dense, axillary and
leaf-opposed fascicles. Sepals 5 - 6 mm long, awned, tomentose. Petals orange or
yellowish, 5 -
7 mm long, oblong-spathulate. Stamens 10 -
12.
Ovary oblong. Capsules
12 -
15 mm across, oblong to globose, densely pubescent; spines ca 5 mm long, hispid
with a transparent, straight point. Seeds oblong-ovate, black.
