Herbs, succulent, tuberous, with wateryjuice, climbing by sensitive petioles. Leaves alternate, peltate. Flowers solitary. Calyx 5, produced into a short or long spur below; lobes imbricate. Corolla 5, upper 2 often different from lower 3, clawed, inserted on calyx. Anthers 8, basifixed; filaments filiform. Ovary 3-carpellate; style simple; stigma 3-lobed.
