Climbing shrubs; branches terete, fleshy, pale, glabrous, glaucous; tendrils
stout, simple. Leaves ovate-cordate, distantly crenate-serrate at margins, 4.5-14 x 3-10 cm, acute at apex, leathery, glabrous, pale when dry; petioles 2.5 -
7 cm long. Inflorescences umbellate cymes, ca 2 cm long, bracteolate; peduncles
ca 1 cm long. Flowers ca 2.5 mm long, glabrous; pedicels ca 3 mm long.
Calyx cupular, obscurely 4-lobed. Petals oblong-ovate ca 2 mm long, acute,
hooded. Stamens ca 1 mm long. Disc 4-lobed, covering ovary. Ovary ca 1
-mm across; style stout; stigma minute. Berries pyriform when dry, ca 7 mm
across, 1-seeded; fruiting pedicels clavate. Seeds obovoid, ca 7 x 4.5 mm,
smooth except for the longitudinally encircling ridged raphe.
