Trees. Leaves oblong-elliptic, 8 - 13 x 3 - 5 cm, apex obtuse to slightly acute, base cuneate, rusty villous beneath, coriaceous; petioles 1 cm long. Panicles 10 cm long, rusty villous. Flowers 2.5 mm across; pedicels 2 - 3 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate, acute, villous. Petals 2-5 mm long, oblong, acute, glabrous. Stamens 10, 1 mm long; filaments slender. Disc thick, crenulate. Ovary 1 mm long, villous at base.

Distrib. India : Kerala. Endemic. Rare.

Notes. This species js known only from its type. It is allied to B. lanzan Sprengel from which it can be distinguished by its glabrous petals.
