Herbs, perennial, erect, hoary pubescent, 20 - 90 cm high; rootstock woody; stems many from the woody rootstock, paniculately branched above, leafy. Leaves ovate, small or flabellate, 2 - 3-pinnatisect, white pubescent; segments minute, linear or obovate, obtuse, spreading; rachis simple or pectinate. Heads numerous, pedicelled, secund, nodding in short or long axillary straight, erect racemes, subglobose, ca 4 mm in diam. Outer involucral bracts obovate, 2 x 1 mm, white tomentose; inner dull brown broadly oblong, with scarious margins. Receptacle sman, convex, obscurely white pubescent. Outer florets female, fertile, 1 mm long. Disc florets hermaphrodite, cupular, very small, 1.2 mm long, glabrous or pubescent. Achenes not seen.
