Herbs, perennial ca 40 cm high; branches 1 - 4, erect, uppermost extremely short,
lower 4 - 12 cm long. Leaves remotely denticulate. Inflorescence compact. Heads medium.
Ligules light blue, ca 6 - 9 mm long.

Distrib. India: W. Himalayas, alpine regions up to ca 4000 m. Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Notes. This species is closely allied to E. semibarbatus DC.
