Herbs, erect, stiff, pubescent, often hoary, very rigid; branches divaricate. Leaves
oblong or obovate, coarsely serrate or pinnatifid, auricled at base, ca 5 x 1.2 cm, hispid
pubescent. Heads globose or oblong, 6-8 mm across; peduncle ca 5 cm long. Corolla of
ray florets short, funnel shaped, 3 - 5-cleft. Achenes compressed with thickened margin.
Pappus absent.
