Herbs, robust, sparsely pubescent, 15 - 25 cm high. Leaves obovate, coarsely toothed
at margin, 2.5 - 5 cm long, sparsely pubescent on both surfaces, sessile or half
amplexicaul. Heads globose, panicled, ca 4 mm across, shortly peduncled. Involucral
bracts very short, obtuse. Receptacle convex. Corolla of female flowers short, inflated,
mouth minute, entire. Bisexual flowers funnel shaped, 4-toothed. Achenes cuneiform,
flattened, margins thickened. Pappus absent.
