ULICINAE Schneider

Shrubs, up to 1 m high; stems glabrous, dark purple; internodes 5 - 10 mm long; spines 1 - 2 cm long, subsulcate, yellow. Leaves deciduous, narrow, concolorous green, epruinose below. Inflorescences 2 -7-flowered; pedicels ca 2.5 mm long. Berries 4 - 5 mm across, black, epruinose, estylose.
