Herbs, slender; stems pubescent or hirsute, more or less covered with soft
hairs. Lower leaves ovate or cordate, sinuate-toothed or lobulate, 5 - 7 x 3 - 5 cm,
long petioled; the upper leaves ovate or elliptic-lanceolate, serrate or entire, sub-
sessile. Heads very small, 0.4 - 0.6 cm across, sometimes sub-racemose.
Involucral bracts unequal; the outer foliaceous, elliptic-spathulate, often hairy,
the apex mucronate, recurved. Ray florets yellow, ligulate, female, sub-filiform.
Disc florets numerous, tubular, 5-toothed. Achenes cylindrical, ribbed, glabrous,
the apex and base punctate.
