Herbs, annual; stems 15 - 35 cm high, glabrous or glaucous, dichotomously branched
from the base. Leaves 1 - 7 x 0.5 - 2 cm; radical leaves narrowed at base, sessile; lobes
entire or sparingly toothed; cauline with dilated base or auricled, sessile; Heads narrow
cylindric, 1.7 - 2.2 x 0.4 - 0.5 cm, erect; peduncle slender, bracteate. Outer involucral
bracts ovate, 3 - 5 x 1 - 1.5 mm, small, glabrous, gradually passing into inner; inner
oblong, 18 - 20 x 1.5 - 2.0 mm, unequal, finely glabrous, oblong, obtuse. Ligules white,
pink or bluish. Anthers bluish or pinkish. Stigma purplish. Achenes brown or grayish
brown, oblanceolate 13 - 14 mm long, much compressed, 3 - 4 ribbed. Pappus milky white,
4 - 6 mm long.

Distrib. India: W. Himalayas, on alpine hill slopes, 3000-3500 m. Jammu & Kashmir.
