Herbs, erect, unbranched, or sparsely branched, viscidly pubescent, up to
1 mhigh; branches striate, glandular-pubescent. Leaves lanceolate, oblanceolate,
auricled or amplexicaul at base, acute at apex, often with recurved mucronate
tip, margins recurved, 0.8 - 5.5 x 0.1 - 0.6 cm, hairy on both surfaces, densely on
the lower surface, 1-nerved, sessile. Heads in densely corymbose clusters, ca
4 mm across; peduncle 1 - 2 mm long, densely white woolly tomentose.
Involucral bracts white, tinged with pink, 3 - 4 -seriate, minutely toothed towards
apices; outer elliptic-ovate; inner linear-oblong, pale yellowish towards basal
end. Marginal florets with filiform corolla, ca 2 mm long, 4-toothed. Corolla
of central florets ca 2 mm long. Achenes oblong, ca 0.5 mm long, oblong,
papillose. Pappus hairs white, minutely bristly.
Fl. & Fr. July - April.
Distrib. India: W. Ghats, and C. India, common near waterfalls, 1150- 2340 m. Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Endemic.
